Alejandro Guzmán is a highly skilled Visual Designer of animated, 3D and traditional media. A master of animation, rigging, and illustration, in 2013 he won Winner the Animated Audiovisual category of the Second Call of Stimuli for the Secretary of Culture in the Mayoralty of Pereira, and was recognized in the 2005 National Competition of Virtual Learning Objects of the Ministry of National Education of Colombia, winning 2nd place. With an artistic style characterized by hybridization and melded through plastic, technical and technology, Alejandro continually pushes the envelope of digital and 3D design, backed by a comprehensive expertise in illustration, drawing and sculpture.

In addition to his design work, Alejandro is an Associated Teacher at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, where he teaches courses in Animation, and Illustration, Graphic Narrative and Video Games. He also directs the Image Studios research group, which is continually raising the bar of innovation in digital and 3D design. He has over a decade of experience in teaching in both public and private institutions at the university level, and is committed as an educator to linking lessons and lectures to active research and workplace applications.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Visual Design, Alejandro underwent specialist studies in new media, interactive technologies and video at the University of Caldas. He then attended Image Campus, where he earned his professional credentials in Animation and 3D Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics and Special Effects, and produced the short film “The Ballad of the Screwdriver.” Currently pursuing his PhD, he is slated to complete doctoral studies in 2019, and holds a master’s degree in Design and Interactive Creation.

A nationally-renowned artist and expert in media design, Alejandro has written articles for academic journals and industry publications, and has served as an evaluator of the National Accreditation Committee (CAN), as well as other academic and artistic projects. He is a celebrated speaker on the national and international circuit, and in 2014 was the recipient of the Colombian Research Grant in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Ministry of Culture.

A resident of Bogota, Colombia, Alejandro’s work and portfolio has transcended boundaries. He credits his success to his passion for the field, and having had the opportunity to see many of his artistic visions realized. As his work gains traction on the international stage, he is helping to drawing the spotlight onto media in Latin America, and raising much needed awareness about visual arts in Colombia.

Outside of his professional endeavors, he is a voracious enjoyer of films and other media.
