Dr. Claudia Heiss is a prolific Political Scientist, Professor and Researcher based in Chile. As Assistant Professor at the University of Chile Institute of Public Affairs (INAP), Claudia teaches a master’s seminar in Contemporary Political Theory and undergraduate units on Political Science and the History of Political Ideas. In addition to her lecture work at the school, Claudia conduct extensive research through the university, and served as President of the Chilean Association of Political Science from 2012-2014.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Chile, Claudia was recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the Political Science master’s program at Columbia University in the United States. In 2011, she completed her doctorate in Political Science with a primary focus on political theory and comparative politics from The New School. Prior to joining the faculty of the University of Chile, she served as adjunct faculty at the Universidad Diego Portales and Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and as a researcher for the Centre For Social Conflict And Cohesion Studies.

She continues to explore topics of political theory, with particular regard to states of constitutional exception and constitutionalism. She is trilingual in English, French and Spanish, and enjoys music, movies and reading in her spare time.
