Carmen began her career working at Bank Santander. After working in capital markets to build experience she decided to return to school. She completed her Masters in International Economy in 2004 at the Complutense University of Madrid and her Doctorate in Finance in 2006 at Rey Juan Carlos University. She has been teaching as a Professor of Finance at the IE Business School since 2008.
Her time at Banco Santander coincided with the creation and implementation of the Euro. While it was an exciting time to be involved, she got bored. In her current role she has to know finance and how to be personable with students and empathize with them. She has to be able to communicate well. Her experience at the bank was good, but personally, she enjoys teaching much more. It's not just about getting a "Best Professor" award. She loves receiving emails from her former students saying: "you changed my life."
In her spare time Carmen enjoys traveling and volunteering with Aldea Infantiles. She looks forward to networking with other members.
