Tiago Ivo Odon is passionate about education, and prides himself on his desire to continue learning. He recently graduated from the University of Chicago Law School (2018), and also earned his Doctorate of Sociology from the University of Brasilia (2013), as well as his Master’s in Law and Public Policy from UniCEUB (2008). He also holds varying degrees from the University of Brasilia in Law and International Relations. He is currently a Legislative Consultant in the Federal Senate of Brazil.
Tiago was one of the members of the Senate Commission of Jurists for the drafting of a new Penal Code (2011-2012), and has advised many parliamentary commissions of inquiry and the last Commission of Impeachment (2016). He also advised the candidate for the Presidency, Senator Alvaro Dias, during the 2018 political campaign, in public security issues.
In addition to his Senate role, he is a Professor in Philosophy of Law at Ambra College (Orlando/FL). Tiago is the author of several scientific articles and books, including "The Model of Criminal Justice in Brazil: The ideas of truth and freedom throughout history" and "The Criminal Language of the Brazilian Social Contract: The enemy, the war and the construction of the Order against Society (1822-1890)”.
Some of the proudest moments of Tiago’s career was when his PhD thesis was awarded as one of the winners of the Federal Senate Thesis Contest. Currently working on an interdisciplinary project (Law, Economics & Sociology) called “Justiça como Equilíbrio” [Justice as Equilibrium], to be released as a book.
He credits his success to passion, dedication, and hard work. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar and drums with a band. He is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
