Ellen Lapidus Stern is a mature, prolific artist, an international oil painter. A Danforth Scholar for Women in 1966, she is known throughout the United States where she practiced and taught fine art and art history, in France and Spain where she lived and painted for over twenty years and throughout Israel where she settled forty years ago. Ellen is an Action Painter expressing through the rudiments of art the Judean landscape before her as well as depicting imagined figures. She signs her paintings lapidot in Hebrew.

lapidot earned her Masters in Fine Arts at The Pratt Graduate School of Fine Arts in Brooklyn, New York, her birthplace. Upon receiving her Degree, Pratt appointed her as instructor of life drawing to third year undergraduates. She also concluded post Masters studies at the University of the Balearic Islands, where for two years she worked on Doctoral studies in Art Theory and History. She holds a certificate of completion of Advanced Doctoral Studies in Art Theory and History at UIB in Mallorca, Spain.

She found great inspiration at the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Prado, Louvre Museum, London National Gallery and in her Israeli forerunners. The Museum of Ein Harod in the Jordan Valley, Israel gave lapidot a solo show thirty years ago.

As a homeowner in Jerusalem, Israel, in addition to her notable career as an artist, Ellen is a proud mother and grandmother.
