Mario Valencia Concha is a Founding and Senior Associate for Galicia Abogados, S.C, one of the most preeminent law firms in Mexico and recognized as the Best Law Firm in Latin America for 2017 by Chambers and Partners. With over 15 years of experience in the legal sector, he oversees international trade matters, strategic planning, customs and tax assessments, new business projects, and dispute resolution, both litigation and arbitration, related to international trade.
Mario masters the international legal framework of the World Trade Organization, has participated in trade remedies cases, mainly dumping and subsidies, as well as in the most relevant litigation cases in Mexico concerning multinational clients and high-profile contingencies. He is an expert in advising his clients on strategic schemes to create beneficial import, export and production mechanisms both within Mexico and abroad.
Mario has participated in anti-dumping investigations initiated in other countries against Mexican exporters, allowing him to have a deeper and better understanding on the legal framework in other jurisdictions.
After earning a Law degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Mario went on to complete a Master of Law with Distinctions from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in the United States, together with a Certificate in WTO Studies. He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, Business National Mexican Association and International Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining Galicia Abogados, he served as an Associate at Chevez, Ruiz, Zamarripa y Cia., S.C. for 7 years.
He is a faculty member at his former law school Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, were he teaches International Business Transactions and International Trade Law.
Fluent in English, French and Spanish, Mario is an avid traveler and is keen to build the business on the international market. Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys playing basketball, soccer, and reading crime novels.
