Rev. Dr. Hazel Ann Gibbs-DePeza is an esteemed educator, pastor and theologian. As Assistant Professor of Linguistics at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, she has been teaching for over 45 years and has been an integral part of the UTT faculty since 2006.
In addition to her role at UTT, Hazel is also the Principal of the Herman Parris Spiritual Baptist Southland School of Theology (HPSBSSOT), an ordained minister of religion, and a certified life coach. She has helped to develop and design educational programs including at the School of Theology, Literacy Training for Prisoners and programs for Delayed Language Learners at UTT.
After completing studies at Mausica teachers College, Hazel went on to earn a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the University of the West Indies. She holds a Master of Philosophy in Linguistics from the University of the West Indies, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.
Also an author, Hazel has published numerous books and articles, most notably My Faith - Spiritual Baptist Christian. She is an avid contributor to youth development as part of the, Foundation for the Academic Advancement of Spiritual Baptist Youth (FAASBY) of which she is a co-founder and director.
Hazel credits her success to a love of education and the fact that it was always her dream to teach and coach others. She has a passion for helping others learn and became a certified life coach to expand upon that passion.
