Raphael Hirsch was born in the U. S., but grew up in Israel. Being exposed to a multicultural and global environment led him to becoming multilingual, being fluent in both Hebrew and English. Raphael's love of different cultures inspired him to obtain dual degrees in History and Political Science from Tel Aviv University. Mr. Hirsch went on to attain a Master of Professional Studies from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
Although Raphael had intentions of pursuing a career in hotel management after acquiring experience while working 4 years for The Dan hotels chain, he was drawn to pursue Human Resources, feeling it was best suited to his character. Raphael worked as a Director in HR for Continental Medical Systems in the U.S. for 2 years, but then returned to Israel to work with Teva Pharmaceuticals. Some of his professional tenure includes: Senior Vice President HR, Global Specialty Medicines (2015-2018), V.P. Human Resources, Global R&D (2012-2015), V.P. Human Resources, Global Branded Products Group (2006-2012), Senior Director Human Resources, Global Innovative R&D (2000-2006), and he served in the Israeli Navy on a Navy missile boat.
Mr. Hirsch has been with Teva Pharmaceuticals for the past 21 years and is currently pursuing new job opportunities as a Senior HR executive in a leading global company. His responsibilities in Teva included: strategic HR planning, ensuring that the right people are recruited, trained and retained to achieve business goals. For about 6 years he helped build and develop Teva’s innovative R&D organization from a small Israeli based research unit into a global R&D organization which developed specialty products such as Copaxone, Azilect, Pro-air, Spiromax and more. During his years with the innovative R&D the organization grew from about 400 employees to 2000 with centers in Israel, US and Europe.
Naturally a hands-on manager, he has a myriad of experience in all areas of HR including: recruitment, talent development, compensation, retention, rewards, workforce planning and more. He has also gained much experience in M&As as Teva grew, and acquired many companies. More recently he managed the entire HR part in the company’s divestment efforts of the women’s health and oncology therapy areas. He works best in a team and he enjoys the role of consulting to top management helping to strategize, plan and execute. In his next role he hopes to experience something different in a different industry where he can learn a new business area and help develop and grow the business. He is looking specifically at companies that are growing and expanding globally, where he can best maximize his experience and skills.
In his spare time, he enjoys reading, travel, and scuba diving. He resides in Kfar Saba, Israel.
