Dr. Eleanor Zeitlen Avinor is a Psychotherapist and the Academic Head at KEG Cards, a company she co-founded in 2009 offering innovative and self-developed therapeutic tools for cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), self-esteem and identity building, and personal growth. With over 35 years of experience in mental wellness and psychology, Eleanor developed the product with Yona Joanne Silman, creating a tool that offered a “key to emotional growth” (KEG). Highly effective at not just helping the user get in touch with oneself, but in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, depression and trauma, the cards help translate the sufferer’s journey into pictures, which can then be used to understand context and employ CBT, gestalt therapy, psychotherapy, schema therapy, short-term focused therapy, and other counseling methods to help the patient to improve or recover.
In addition to offering the KEG Card products, Eleanor conducts training workshops for mental health professionals to develop themselves as persons and professionals. Utilizing guided imagery, energy psychology and mind-body techniques, she helps mental healthcare providers to understand new methods of outreach and connection to their patients, as well as enhance their own self-awareness and growth as therapists.
A well-established contributor to her field, Eleanor taught at Haifa University for 34 years. Over the years, she lectured in English, Comparative Literature, Children’s Literature, and English Reading, among many other subjects. She also based much of her research at the institution and retains strong ties to the academic community. Today, she is a highly sought-after speaker on the international circuit, and travels all over the globe to lecture on topics of mental health, personal growth, and therapeutic measures.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in the English Language from Haifa University, Eleanor went on to complete a Master of Arts at the University. She later went on to complete a second master’s degree, in Science and Psychotherapy from Derby University, before ultimately earning her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of New Mexico. Today, she resides in Haifa, Israel, where she is a member of the Israeli Association of Brief term psychotherapy and The European Association of Counselors. Outside of her professional endeavors, she is an avid reader.
